Responsibilities

Each individual performs waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by California law and must possess skills matching their education, training, and experience. Responsibilities include:

  1. Adhering to laboratory procedures for collection, processing, analysis, and reporting.
  2. Following quality control policies and documenting corrective actions.
  3. Identifying and correcting problems affecting test performance or notifying supervisors.
  4. Performing a variety of laboratory procedures using manual and automated methods across disciplines.
  5. Performing and documenting maintenance of instruments and equipment.
  6. Reviewing the accuracy of patient results before reporting.
  7. Recognizing age-specific differences in test results.
  8. Ensuring proficiency testing samples are tested properly and collaborating with other labs only after reporting results.
  9. Performing venipuncture or capillary puncture as needed.
  10. Assisting in developing and maintaining lab policies and procedures.
  11. Adhering to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and HR policies.
  12. Potentially serving as General Supervisor during shifts.
  13. Managing responsibilities related to LIS and POC as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Training:

  • Two years of clinical laboratory experience covering all areas.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory sciences, or medical technology from an accredited institution, or as required by California law.
  • Valid California State License.

Estimated compensation for this role is $54.33 per hour. The final offer will consider skills, experience, education, and licensure.
