Position: Clinical Laboratory Scientist II

Department: Blood Bank Laboratory

Type: Part Time - Non-Exempt

Responsibilities:

• Perform complex medical laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment of disease.
• Analyze and ensure accuracy of test results, maintain instruments, and monitor quality control and assurance programs.
• Perform specimen processing and testing independently, including moderate and high complexity tests.
• Interpret test results with knowledge of pathological processes and disease states.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, troubleshoot, and take corrective actions.
• Implement quality control procedures, evaluate data, document findings, and take corrective actions as needed.
• Communicate QC information to supervisors or lead technicians.
• Review and update departmental procedures or policies.
• Complete required competency assessments and pursue cross-training for departmental flexibility.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent with 15 years of clinical lab experience, or
• Associate’s Degree with at least 2 years of clinical lab experience, or
• Bachelor’s Degree with relevant lab experience.

Minimum licensing/certification required: one of the following - MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), MT(AMT), MT(AAB), CLS(NCA), MT(HEW), CLT(NCA), MLT(ASCP), or MLT(AMT). Certification is waived for those with 5 years of lab experience.
