Job summary

Qualifications

• Associates Degree (Required) in MLS or related science field.
• Experience in MLS or BA/BS in Science as stated in job responsibilities.
• Certification as Medical Technologist (ASCP) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verifies appropriateness of specimens, accurately labels and identifies specimens; alerts providers of critical results.
• Performs analytical procedures using manual or automated methods; verifies validity of results per QC criteria.
• Performs assays and reports results within established turnaround times; prioritizes workload.
• Demonstrates high-level technical, interpretive and evaluation skills; troubleshoots instrumentation as needed.
• Maintains thorough records of work, QC, and communications with patients and health care providers.
• Participates in special projects or studies; orients and trains new staff and students.
• Assists in updating procedures through research to ensure current methods.
• Supports CAP inspection preparation by reviewing checklists and corrective actions.
• Follows corporate and Pathology compliance policies and organizational standards of behavior.
• Maintains awareness of quality compliance and teamwork expectations.
