Qualifications

• Requires one year of relevant experience.
• Certification must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
• Certification by ASCP AMT NCA ACHI or equivalent.
• Knowledge of complex and lengthy laboratory techniques.
• Knowledge of specialized testing equipment and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to maintain quality control and records.
• Ability to use computer to enter and retrieve test results.
• Analytical skills to make quantitative and qualitative observations.
• Ability to work independently with interruptions and concurrent tasks.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory tests on patient specimens and provides information for diagnosis, treatment or prevention.
• Maintains records of performance and quality control within procedures.
• May participate in research and development activities.
• Instructs staff and students on laboratory procedures and techniques; adapts to management needs.
