Job summary

Emanate Health is seeking a Laboratory Clinical Scientist to perform standardized tests across the assigned laboratory section, obtain specimens, prepare specimens, and calculate results. You will review results for accuracy and maintain complete records, with opportunities to assume supervisory duties in the absence of the supervisor.

Requires Current California MTA CLS license and, for Microbiology, a minimum MTE license; a 60-day grace period for renewals is allowed.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills required.
• Current California MTA CLS license.
• A sixty-day grace period for renewals is granted to allow the Department processing time.
• A minimum of a MTE license required if working at ICH Clinical Laboratory Scientist – Microbiology department.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of standardized tests, including advanced and specialized tests appropriate to the discipline of the assigned laboratory section.
• Obtains specimens where necessary.
• Prepares the specimen and decides the suitability of the specimen for the requested test.
• Prepares reagents.
• Performs tests, determines and calculates results.
• Reviews results for accuracy.
• Maintains proper records.
• Discusses methods and general procedures.
• Investigates alternative procedures, where appropriate, and reviews results with the supervisor.
• May assume supervisory capabilities in the absence of the immediate supervisor.
• Evaluates new test methods and instrumentation.
