Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist in South Austin, TX. The role involves performing a range of routine and complex clinical laboratory tests and communicating results to ensure high-quality patient care.

Requires a bachelor's degree in a chemical/biological science or medical technology, and 1+ year of lab testing experience or an MLS. Lab experience and LIS familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience or an MLS degree.
• Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE.

Technologist – South Austin, TX

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 9am – 5:30pm, rotating Saturdays.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience or an MLS degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current or prior Labcorp experience.
• ASCP or AMT certification.

Additional Job Standards

• Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
