Job Description: Job Summary

Responsible for supporting laboratory operations by performing accurate patient registration, specimen accessioning, and order entry in laboratory information systems. Conducts phlebotomy, specimen processing, and waived testing procedures while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Collaborates with clinicians and laboratory staff to clarify orders, resolve issues, and maintain efficient workflow. Provides excellent customer service, educates patients as needed, and maintains detailed documentation. Ensures timely and accurate handling of specimens to support patient care across diverse clinical settings.

Essential Functions
  • Performs quality control, quality assurance, and maintenance according to procedures, documenting and troubleshooting issues as needed.
  • Adheres to laboratory protocols for specimen procurement, handling, transport, and processing.
  • Performs cytology processing procedures accurately and efficiently, following standard techniques and protocols.
  • Utilizes laboratory information systems and records documentation accurately and legibly.
  • Maintains compliance with safety guidelines, practices standard precautions, and participates in continuing education.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with customers, co-workers, and healthcare providers.
  • Coordinates scheduling and gathers required information for fine needle aspirations (FNA) and other procedures.
  • Maintains inventory and ensures proper ordering and storage of laboratory supplies.
  • Completes required assessments, continuing education, and reviews procedural updates in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement

High school diploma or equivalent experience

Experience Requirement

0-1 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All experience must be paid and in the same related field. Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week. Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
