Job Summary

Responsible for supporting patient care delivery by processing physician orders, maintaining patient records, and managing patient information. Coordinates communication among patients, visitors, and healthcare teams to ensure efficient operations. Provides clerical services, organizes documentation, and assists with unit workflow. Ensures accurate recordkeeping and timely response to requests using various communication methods. Delivers excellent customer service to enhance the patient and staff experience.

Essential Functions
  • Utilizes and maintains essential equipment and systems to support patient care and movement.
  • Initiates, organizes, and maintains patient charts, forms, and medical records according to established guidelines.
  • Facilitates accurate and timely admissions, transfers and discharges by following departmental standards and protocols.
  • Provides telephone coverage, routes calls, answers inquiries and communicates information to patients, families, staff and physicians in a professional manner.
  • Acts as a liaison between physicians, nurses, interdisciplinary departments and external facilities to coordinate patient care.
  • Maintains confidentiality and follows HIPAA guidelines, reporting any violations as required.
  • Ensures compliance with hospital protocols, infection control, safety standards and completes required annual training and competencies.
  • Orders, stocks and maintains office and unit supplies to ensure efficient operations.
  • Assists with orientation and training of new staff and accepts reassignments as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All experience must be paid and in the same related field. Part‑time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week. Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
