Job summary

Northwell in Riverhead, NY seeks a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to perform biochemical, microscopic and bacteriological tests. You will receive requisitions, prepare instruments, and process specimens from patients and nursing units.

You’ll maintain quality control, document findings, comply with NYS DOH and Joint Commission standards, and stay current with established procedures. A NYS license and a Bachelor's in Medical Technology are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology required.
• Licensed by New York State Education Department as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
• Minimum of one year work experience or training in the described work area.

Responsibilities

• Receives written requisitions for routine or special tests.
• Prepares, calibrates and verifies equipment performance.
• Acquires specimens (blood, urine, sputum, etc.) from nursing units or patients.
• Prepares slides and analyzes specimens using microscopy or automated equipment.
• Posts findings to worksheets, report forms or computer for review by supervisor.
