Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform and interpret complex laboratory tests with attention to quality and safety. You will work within a fast-paced clinical environment, operate and troubleshoot lab instruments, and collaborate with pathologists and clinicians on abnormal results.

The role requires MLS/MT certification, a high school diploma or GED plus science-focused degree, and experience in generalist testing and blood bank procedures.

Qualifications

• Requires High School or GED with a Baccalaureate degree including science coursework.
• Must have MT/MLS/CLS or equivalent certification and pass required exam within 12 months if registry eligible.

Responsibilities

• Performs, reviews, and reports complex lab tests per FDA, CAP, AABB, GDHR standards.
• Maintains equipment and oversees QC to ensure safety and accuracy.
• Communicates with pathology and management on abnormal results.
• Maintains inventory and supports training of staff and students.
• Assists in specimen collection and adheres to biohazard safety protocols.
