Job summary

FRIO REGIONAL HOSPITAL is seeking a Medical Technologist to collaborate with the Laboratory team to perform specimen processing and moderate-to-high complexity testing. The role includes data entry, instrument maintenance, and ensuring accuracy of clinical data.

Required are a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, ASCP/AMT certification within 12 months of hire, and CPR certification. Weekend/nights/holidays must be available, with on-site responsibilities across the lab.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or equivalent required.
• ASCP or AMT certification within 12 months of hire preferred.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chemical analyses of body fluids (blood, urine, CSF) to detect normal/abnormal components.
• Study blood cells, counts, and morphology.
• Perform blood typing, compatibility testing for transfusion.
• Enter test results into the laboratory information system.
• Perform routine quality control to ensure data accuracy.
• Carry out routine preventive maintenance and calibration of instruments.
