Frio Regional Hospital is seeking a Medical Technologist to join the Laboratory team. The role involves specimen processing and performing moderate to high complexity testing, contributing to diagnosis and treatment decisions.

You will conduct chemical analyses, study blood cells, perform blood typing, and enter results into the EMR. A bachelor’s degree and MT certification within 12 months, plus CPR, are required. On-site position with benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Formación

• Bachelor-level degree from an accredited program in medical technology or clinical laboratory science.
• ASCP or AMT certification required within 12 months of hire date; CPR certification.
• Strong data entry, EMR/documentation, and computer skills.

Responsabilidades

• Conducts chemical analyses of body fluids to detect normal/abnormal components.
• Studies blood cells, counts, and morphology.
• Performs blood grouping, typing, and compatibility testing for transfusions.
• Analyzes results and documents findings in the computer system.
• Performs routine quality control to ensure accuracy of data.
• Maintains and calibrates laboratory instruments; records maintenance in logs.
• Verifies instrument function and documents any repairs or needs.

Summary

Medical Technologist, in collaboration with the Laboratory team, performs specimen processing and testing independently to include moderate and high complexity testing in medical laboratory to provide data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conducts chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid, to determine presence of normal and abnormal components.
• Studies blood cells, their numbers, and morphology.
• Performs blood group, type, and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes.
• Analyzes test results and enters findings in computer.
• Performs quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure.
• Verifies instrument functioning by checking and calibrating specific lab instruments and documents data.
• Records on instrument logs any repairs, replacement, and maintenance needed of equipment.
• Knowledge of laboratory technical skills and medical terminology.
• General computer skills, including but not limited to using required software applications, data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, handheld scanning, and email.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to problem solve.
• Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

Graduate of an accredited bachelor’s degree program.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Medical Technologist, American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or American

Medical Technologist (AMT) certification required within 12 months of hire date.

CPR certification
