Job summary

STJ St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Virginia is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform and analyze clinical laboratory tests across disciplines. Duties include quality control, instrument maintenance, phlebotomy, and reporting results to clinicians.

The role requires state licensure as applicable and relevant ASCP/AMT certification as preferred; experience as a Medical Technologist is expected. Night shift, 36 hours weekly, and WV location are noted.

Qualifications

• State licensure as required by the state board.
• BS in Medical Technology/Clinical Lab Science or related science with CLIA grandfathered exception.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
• Experience as a Medical Technologist.

Responsibilities

• Process and analyze samples accurately and meet productivity targets.
• Set up, run, maintain, and adjust laboratory instruments.
• Perform quality control and follow infection control procedures.
• May perform quality control summaries.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures as needed.
• Complete forms and report findings to nurses/physicians.
• Interact with healthcare workers to interpret results.
• Perform routine and basic lab testing in designated area.
• Recognize testing inconsistencies and take corrective action.
• Maintain records accurately and legibly.
• Follow safety, security, and infection control policies.
• Communicate professionally with patients and staff.
