Job summary

STJ St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon, WV is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform and analyze clinical tests across disciplines, following SOPs and quality control procedures. You will operate and maintain instruments, review results for accuracy, and communicate findings to nurses and physicians.

Qualified candidates will have an AAS in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related science and current WV licensure (HCTP or trainee). ASCP or AMT MLT certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or associate degree in medical lab tech or related science.
• WV licensure as required: HCTP or Trainee License.
• ASCP/AMT MLT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process and analyze samples in a timely, accurate manner per SOPs.
• Set up, run, maintain, and adjust laboratory instruments.
• Perform quality control and infection control procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy as needed.
• Document and report findings to nurses/physicians.
• Interacts with healthcare team to interpret results.
• Perform routine lab tests in designated areas.
• Identify and correct testing inconsistencies.
• Maintain patient/specimen records accurately.
• Follow safety and security policies.
• Communicate professionally with patients, families, and staff.
• Work with a team to support hospital operations.
