Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Technologist to join our Houston, TX team. You will determine specimen acceptability, perform routine and complex tests, and monitor instrumentation to ensure accurate results that support quality patient care.

The role requires a Bachelor's in a chemical/biological science or MLS, with 1+ year clinical lab experience; ASCP/AMT certification preferred. Flexibility for varying shifts and overtime is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
• Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• High attention to detail with strong communication and organizational skills.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE
