Job summary

Labcorp in Johnson City, TN seeks a Technologist to join our clinical laboratory team. The role focuses on validating specimens, performing procedures, and ensuring high-quality results to support patient care.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science (or MLS) and at least 1 year of lab testing experience, with ASCP/AMT certification preferred. Evening shifts with occasional weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology is required or MLS degree.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.
• ASCP or AMT certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.
