Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to collect, process, and test patient specimens across departments in a clinical laboratory setting. The role involves performing waived to high complexity testing, ensuring accuracy and maintaining QC measures.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in applied science in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) with MLT (ASCP) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived, moderately, and high complexity testing.
• Collect, process and receive specimens for analysis across departments.
• Evaluate and resolve collection/processing issues across age groups.
• Prepare samples and send to reference laboratories.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and stock supplies.
• Perform complex procedures and detect deviations; correct per CLIA requirements.
• Analyze quality control data to maintain accuracy and precision per CLIA.
• Assist in troubleshooting and instrument maintenance.
• Participate in training programs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve instrument failures.
• Participate in comparison studies and validation of new equipment.
• Ensure proper quality control measures are in place.
