Job summary

The Cancer & Hematology Centers is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform testing on patient specimens, report results, and support quality control in a fast-paced lab. This PRN role covers Kenmoor and may travel to Big Rapids, Holland, and Muskegon clinics, with no weekends. Strong organization, accuracy, and teamwork are required.

Requirements include a Bachelor of Science, ASCP certification or equivalent, and LIS experience; two years of related work preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related field.
• Must pass registry exam and have current certification.
• ASCP certification or equivalent required.
• Two years of related work experience preferred.
• Knowledge of chemistry and hematology instrumentation; experience with LIS is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs assigned technical assays according to procedures and reports tests after verifying validity of results.
• Maintains equipment and adheres to maintenance schedule; performs QC and proficiency tests.
• Properly collect patient specimens including labeling, handling and transport.
• Demonstrates good communication with staff and patients; supports patient care goals.
