Bargaining Unit : Job Summary :

The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Clinical Laboratory Technologist II, Blood Bank.

Clinical Laboratory Technologist II will be responsible to support and assist the Department of Clinical labs within the Blood Bank. The individual will be responsible for performing duties encompassing all aspects of blood bank testing. Key focus on quality control and meticulous record keeping is desired.

Illustrative Duties

  • Performs all aspects of blood bank testing, including but not limited to :

ABO / Rh Typing

  • Cross Matching
  • Identification with appropriate follow-ups
  • Maintains quality control of equipment and reagents.
  • Manages meticulous record-keeping with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to possess and utilize great follow-up skills.

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent in Medical Technology, Chemical or Biological Science.
  • New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
  • Proven track record / ability to communicate technical concepts across a wide range of key stake holders.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • ASCP Certification.
