Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team in a 20-hour/week role. The position involves processing samples, running tests in multiple lab specialties, and reporting results with strict quality controls.

The role requires an associate degree in MLS or equivalent and CLIA high-complexity qualification. Training and ongoing competency development are part of the job, with opportunities to work across Mercyhealth facilities.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in medical laboratory science or military equivalent.
• Qualified to perform high complexity testing according to CLIA 493.1489.

Responsibilities

• Receive patients, order and collect samples, document QC and generate reports.
• Perform lab tests in hematology, urinalysis, chemistry, blood bank or microbiology by automated and manual methods.
• Analyze test results for validity and accuracy before charting.
• Ensure turnaround times and correctly report critical results.
• Perform quality control and proficiency testing; calibrate instruments as needed.
• Teach and train new partners and students; maintain competency for new methods.
• Collect patient specimens.
