Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous laboratory experience preferred but not required.
  • Required Education: Associate or Bachelor's Degree.
  • Required Certifications/Registrations: Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, ASCP or AMT registry.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains and processes specimens for quality patient testing.
  • Performs laboratory testing as outlined in the policy and procedure manuals.
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
  • Follows the Universal Precautions Policies.
  • Maintains required records, reports, and statistical information as directed.
  • Processes specimens for reference laboratory and pathology services.
  • Orders supplies as necessary to maintain adequate inventory.
  • Assists other personnel as required or requested for specimen collection and processing.
  • Follows manufacturer guidelines for all laboratory equipment.
  • Performs, troubleshoots, and monitors quality control daily
  • Reviews reference laboratory reports, and follows up as needed.
  • Consults with other medical personnel as required.
  • Participates on various committees as requested.
  • As electronic systems evolve, learn to use the hardware and software associated with them and how they are integrated within our laboratory system.
