Job summary

Mercyhealth Lake Geneva is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support specimen processing and perform waived to moderate-complexity tests under CLIA guidelines. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Associate’s degree or higher in chemical, physical, or biological sciences or medical laboratory science preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive patients in the Information System and document quality control activities.
• Collect samples, run waived and moderate-complexity tests per CLIA 42CFR493 guidance.
• Evaluate specimen quality and ensure accurate test results before release to medical records.
• Maintain instrument calibration, perform preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot issues as needed.
• Assist in administrative tasks like filing, scanning, and storing laboratory documents.
