Overview:

Job Description Summary:

Performs accurate and timely processing, testing, and result reporting. Provides preventive maintenance, quality control, and customer service.

Essential Functions:

  1. Performs routine and complex technical procedures in the laboratory information system, including phlebotomy, specimen collection, processing, reporting, and storage. Ensures preventive maintenance, supply management, and quality control with proper documentation, coordination, and communication.
  2. Maintains knowledge of and complies with applicable laws and regulations. Stays updated on techniques, procedures, and protocols within the lab and its sections. Reviews and acknowledges procedures as required.
  3. Delivers service excellence, fosters teamwork, and ensures quality patient care by adapting communication styles for cultural differences, addressing concerns through research and resolution, utilizing troubleshooting skills, and managing interruptions effectively.
  4. Maintains a safe environment by wearing appropriate PPE, reporting spills and hazards immediately, and following guidelines for patient information confidentiality.
  5. Participates in process development and improvement initiatives, including quality assurance, continuing education, department meetings, and special projects.
  6. Provides constructive feedback for individual improvement and assists in training and evaluating employees, students, and interns.

Education Requirement:

Bachelor's Degree in medical laboratory science or a related physical, chemical, or biological science from an accredited institution.

American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification preferred.
