Job summary

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, Student Health Services seeks a Laboratory Technician 1, Medical Assistant to support fast-paced, patient-centered care. You will enter chief complaints and vital signs in the EHR, and perform CLIA‑waived tests, immunizations and procedures in accordance with protocols.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two (2) years of laboratory experience performing various laboratory procedures.
• The ability to obtain a State of Nevada Office Laboratory Certification.
• Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety.
• Pre-employment screening for controlled substances required.
• A valid Class “C” driver’s license or higher is required at appointment and continued employment.

Responsibilities

• Enter chief complaints and vital signs into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with accuracy and empathy.
• Perform in-house CLIA‑waived tests (COVID, pregnancy, urinalysis, strep, mono) and document results.
• Assist with medical procedures and immunizations as ordered.
• Administer medications as directed and support vaccination efforts.
• Maintain medical equipment and assist with training laboratory personnel.
