Job summary

Tidelands Health is seeking a Physician Practice Laboratory Assistant II to join the lab operations at its Murrells Inlet, SC area. The role involves patient-facing duties, specimen collection, infection control, and quality-focused lab processes in a clinic setting.

Responsibilities include processing tests, phlebotomy, EKGs, order entry, and participation in process improvement. Requires high school diploma and phlebotomy experience, with an associate degree preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's Degree in Medical Lab Technology preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in clinical patient care settings preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately report all patient information and any changes in patient’s health status to the physician.
• Practice proper infection control precautions and utilize PPE supplies per regulatory requirements.
• Order, stock, and distribute all medical supplies.
• Performs EKGs and may perform CLIA waived and moderately complex testing if assigned.
• Performs proper and prompt specimen transport.
• Demonstrates proper patient identification.
• Performs order entry and medical necessity screening for Medicare patients.
• Performs specimen collection, including venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection, and culture receipt. Accessions specimens.
• Answers lab phones and responds to questions.
• Actively participates in lab process improvement project.
• May perform CMA duties as directed based upon need.
