Job summary

Tidelands Health in Murrells Inlet, SC is seeking a Physician Practice Laboratory Assistant (PPLA) II to support specimen collection, testing, and routine clinical laboratory duties within a busy clinic.

The role requires strong attention to infection control, patient identification, and adherence to regulatory standards. You will participate in lab process improvements, ensure proper calibration and documentation, and provide professional, patient‑centered service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in Medical Lab Technology preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience in clinical patient care settings. Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Present patient ABN and explain non-coverage.
• Perform venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection, culture receipt.
• Demonstrate infection control and proper patient identification.
• Prepare specimens for transport and chain-of-custody for drug screens.
• Perform waived POC testing with calibration and QC.
• Contribute to lab process improvement and reconcile lab results.
