Job summary

UW Medicine is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 to join the Phlebotomy & Specimen Processing Services team at UW Medical Center - Montlake in Seattle. You will perform specimen processing, venipuncture, and patient-facing duties to ensure timely, accurate test results.

The role emphasizes teamwork, training, and adherence to accreditation standards while providing top-notch patient service and data accuracy in a dynamic hospital lab environment.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent with 1 year of lab experience OR completion of an ASCP-approved lab assistant course OR equivalent education/experience.
• MA-P certification with WA Dept of Health or within 180 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen processing tasks: receiving, sorting, prioritizing, tube matching, centrifuging, aliquoting, processing timed urine collections, data entry.
• Perform phlebotomy by collecting venous and capillary blood from inpatients and outpatients of all ages.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, clients, and staff.
• Orient and train new employees and support performance improvement initiatives.
• Resolve specimen and order-related problems with accurate documentation.
