Job summary

Summit Health Management is seeking a Per Diem Lab Technician to support technologists in processing specimens for various tests, including COVID, blood chemistry, histology and urine analyses. You will ensure proper labeling, organize storage, and maintain LIS documentation while following all safety guidelines.

The role requires standard lab duties, strong English communication, and the ability to work on an as-needed basis with attention to detail and reliability.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required; Health Sciences degree preferred.
• English communication skills required, both spoken and written.
• Moderate-to-high level computer skills required.
• Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for testing according to laboratory criteria.
• Readies specimens for analyzers with correct barcode labeling.
• Organize and maintain lab storage and samples.
• Register, retrieve, and discard specimens as appropriate.
• Familiar with tube types, test requests and medical terminology.
• Sanitize equipment and workspace.
• Perform pipetting and sample organization as needed.
• Troubleshoot problematic specimens to resolve issues.
• Ensure proper additives for specimens before testing.
• Centrifuge specimens delivered to the lab in a timely manner.
