Independence Health System is seeking a Phlebotomist/Specimen Processor to support laboratory operations in a hospital setting. You will assist in the preparation, processing, and tracking of specimens, ensuring accurate identification and timely progression of tests.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or higher level of education.
• Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
• Strong ability to communicate complex topics to a wide and diverse audience.
• Basic Math and Keyboard Proficiency.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
• Basic working knowledge of computers and office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency in appropriate computer system functions and data entry accuracy.
• Receives and pre-analytic examination of patient specimens and verifies correct identification.
• Labels specimens and ensures specimen integrity through processing to reporting of results.
• Maintains readiness of the work area and facilitates distribution of supplies and information.
• Interacts with health care professionals to expedite laboratory services and communicate specimen requirements.
• Adheres to quality control, quality assurance, safety, and biohazard guidelines.
