Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology/MLS or in biological, chemical or physical sciences with completion of a medical laboratory training program.
• Medical Laboratory skills obtained through clinical rotations or training.
• Certification as MLS/MT within six months if not licensed in Tennessee.

Responsibilities

• Execute prompt, efficient, and accurate performance, validation, and reporting of laboratory test results.
• Document QC, compliance, and appropriate use of materials, equipment, and PPE.
• Assist in equipment set-up, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting under guidance.
• Monitor and manage lab inventory and participate in inventory planning.
• Update procedures and maintenance manuals to reflect current practices.
• Collect quality data and contribute to Quality Program initiatives.
• Adhere to hospital standards and licensing/accrediting requirements.
• Inform supervisor of unusual observations in a timely manner.
