Job summary

Grady Health System is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to analyze biological specimens, operate instruments, and integrate data for accurate results supporting diagnosis and treatment. The role emphasizes adherence to quality control and assurance programs to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualified candidates have a Bachelor's degree and must obtain certification within 18 months; registry-eligible graduates may qualify.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• New grads must be registry eligible and obtain certification within 18 months; this exemption applies only if Grady is first job.
• Must be certified as Medical Technologist by ASCP, AAB, NCA or registry eligible.
• Graduate of NAACLS-accredited program and registry eligible.

Responsibilities

• Follow SOPs for collection, acceptance, processing and analysis of specimens and test results.
• Integrate clinical and lab data; verify results in LIS; monitor workload for high-priority samples.
• Execute, verify and document quality control procedures; adjust procedures to maintain accuracy.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and instruments; diagnose issues and take corrective actions.
• Participate in continuing education and train students/employees; support QA/QI initiatives.
• Provide information to customers about specimen status, requirements, orders and results.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
