Job summary

University of Southern California Arcadia Hospital is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform high complexity testing under supervision. You will ensure quality control, documentation, calibration, and maintenance, and assist in staff training and process improvements.

The role requires a California CLS license and a minimum bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related field, with microbiology experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field is required.
• State license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in California is required.
• Microbiology experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and prioritize work duties.
• Identify and solve technical problems during routine testing.
• Adhere to quality control policies and document all QC activities.
• Assist in developing and recording systems to document controls.
• Install quality control standards to ensure accuracy of test results.
• Train and orient new employees and students.
• Review and resolve QC problems with supervisor.
• Capable of assuming section supervisor role when required.
• Ensure safety and policy compliance in the workplace.
• Demonstrate knowledge of theory behind tests and maintain competency.
• Document corrective actions when test systems deviate from specs.
• Perform high complexity testing as authorized.
• Perform phlebotomy or front-office duties as needed.
• Provide professional, calm, cooperative interactions.
• Provide accurate, timely test results per procedures.
• Read and interpret test results with understanding of age-related differences.
• Adapt to staffing and scheduling changes.
• Respond to department needs and perform other duties as assigned.
