Job summary

North Vista Hospital in Las Vegas, NV is seeking a Full-Time Medical Laboratory Technician. Qualifications

• ASCP certification or equivalent required within 18 months of employment.
• One year hospital laboratory work experience preferred but not required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or MLT from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Perform tests across Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology and Immunology.
• Adhere to laboratory procedures for collection, processing, analysis and reporting of results.
• Follow quality control policies and document corrective actions when needed.
• Identify problems affecting test performance and notify supervisor or Medical Director.
• Maintain and operate instruments; document maintenance schedules as required.
• Review patient results for accuracy prior to reporting.
• Recognize age-related reference ranges from newborns to geriatrics.
• Ensure proficiency testing samples are tested consistently with patient samples.
• May perform venipuncture or capillary puncture across age groups.
• Assist in development and maintenance of lab policies and procedures.
• Adhere to safety, infection control and emergency preparedness policies.
• May serve as Lead Tech in the absence of a supervisor.
• May have responsibilities related to LIS and/or POCT.
