Job summary

The State of Wyoming seeks a Medical Laboratory Assistant/Lab Scientist to coordinate and perform tasks across the clinical laboratory in Evanston. You will manage phlebotomy duties, specimen processing, QA checks, and CLIA‑waived to moderate complexity testing under the Lab Supervisor’s guidance.

Essential functions include venipuncture, data entry into LIS, troubleshooting orders with physicians, and maintaining inventory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (typically in Science)
• 0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in a medical or environmental laboratory) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Laboratory Assistant
• 3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in a medical or environmental laboratory) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Laboratory Assistant
• Certification requirements include CLA/MLA and ASCP or AMT where applicable

Responsibilities

• Perform daily phlebotomy duties and venipuncture as directed.
• Receive, process, label, and audit specimens per procedure.
• Enter orders and enter specimens into LIS accurately and promptly.
• Perform quality assurance checks and document maintenance under supervision.
• Assist with supply inventory and notify supervisor when replenishment is needed
