Job summary

The Grand Haven Hospital, part of Trinity Health, seeks a Part-time Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform analysis of blood, urine, stool and body fluids, and to maintain quality of testing according to policy.

Responsibilities include specimen collection, accurate identification, and evaluating tests in light of clinical conditions; requires MLS degree and ASCP or equivalent certification within 18 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Scientist (Medical Technology) or related discipline.
• Registry or Certification by professional organization such as the ASCP or equivalent is required; continuation of employment contingent on passing within 18 months of hire.
• Ability to read, speak and write English effectively.

Responsibilities

• Collect appropriate specimen samples as required.
• Ensure specimen identification is accurate when aliquoting specimens and resulting tests.
• Demonstrates competency in performance of analytical laboratory tests on blood, urine, and other body fluids or specimens according to laboratory policy.
• Evaluates test results in light of the patient’s clinical condition and analytical testing conditions according to laboratory policy.
