MLS/MT certification options: ASCP BOC or AMT; generalist or categorical/specialist certifications
Non-certified applicants may be hired and work toward certification

Responsibilities

Evaluate specimen suitability and request new specimens as needed
Prepare and process specimens for analysis following protocols
Perform range of lab tests using manual and instrumental methods
Conduct quality control and maintain instrument calibration and records
Interpret/massage results and communicate with medical staff; participate in training CLS students and residents
Work schedule: 4 ten-hour shifts with rotating weekends/holidays; on-call required
