Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to accurately analyze and report tests ordered by the Medical Staff, adhering to regulatory guidelines and laboratory procedures to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment.

You will perform a range of test procedures, ensure timely reporting, calibrate equipment, maintain quality controls, and participate in education to enhance technical skills and uphold professional standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA.
• Preferred multiple professional certifications upon hire (ASCP-IMLS, BB, CASCP, CLS, CLT-NCA, MB, MLS, MT-AAB, MMT-ASCP, MT-AMT, SH-ASCP, SM-ASCP, MT-ASCP, HTL).

Responsibilities

• Perform waived, moderately complex, and highly complex test procedures on patient specimens.
• Provide clinical correlation of results and rapid notification of critical values.
• Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation and quality control records.
• Assist in validation of new procedures and equipment and complete proficiency testing.
• Support continuing education and training for staff and students.
