Job summary

Good Samaritan Hospital located in San Jose, CA, an affiliate of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Level II). The role performs routine to advanced laboratory testing, ensuring accuracy and timely results. Requires CA CLS license, 5+ years’ experience, and ability to train staff.

On-site position with comprehensive hospital benefits. Responsibilities include instrument maintenance, data review, and collaboration with clinical teams to support patient care.

Qualifications

• Valid California CLS license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform automated, semi-automated and manual procedures across multiple disciplines.
• Maintain instrumentation, interpret results and document data per procedures.
• Collaborate with nursing and hospital staff to ensure timely patient care.
• Provide training and serve as in-charge when manager is absent.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Our Clinical Lab Scientists (level II) perform clinical testing in one or more of the following areas: blood bank, chemistry, serology, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, special chemistry, microbiology and manual tests. Our team is amazing; we consider ourselves a family who work hard to support each other and we are looking for someone who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do.

• You will perform automated, semi-automated and manual procedures in the fields of bacteriology, parasitology, hematology, coagulation, serology, chemistry, urinalysis, immunology, and immunohematology. According to established procedures and policies

• You will perform preventative maintenance on laboratory instrumentation, interpret results as to their accuracy, acceptability and critical limits and organize work to meet established deadlines and record all data obtained

• You will work actively and be cooperative with nursing and other hospital staff to ensure timely patient care as well as assist with regulatory compliance

• You will be responsible for training lab personnel and are expected to perform in-charge assignment in the absence of a manager

What qualifications you will need:

• Valid California State Department of Health Services Clinical Laboratory Scientist License.

• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Must effectively read, write and verbally communicate in the English language.

• Ability to learn and utilize computerized patient care management system.

• Minimum five years’ experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

• Successful completion of a supervised one (1) year clinical laboratory internship.

• Supervisory skills in areas of assuming responsibility, exercising independent judgment, making judicious decisions when responding to issues and problems and flexing staff to accommodate workload.

• In-depth knowledge of the laboratory organization, policies and procedures including technical safety procedures and information system functions.

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or equivalent.
