Job summary

Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, Texas is seeking a Clinical Lab professional for a PRN night shift (10-hour shifts, 10P-8:30A). The role requires ASCP certification eligibility, a bachelor’s degree in a health science field, and state licensure where applicable.

Responsibilities include strict adherence to lab procedures, quality control, problem identification, a wide range of lab tests, instrument maintenance, and ensuring accurate results before reporting.

Qualifications

• ASCP certification, or equivalent, preferred.
• One year hospital laboratory work experience preferred, but not required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1423).
• Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the laboratory’s procedures for collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
• Follow quality control policies and document corrective actions when tests deviate from specifications.
• Identify problems that may affect test performance and notify supervisor or Medical Director.
• Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures using manual and automated methods in multiple disciplines.
• Perform and document maintenance on instruments and equipment as appropriate.
• Review the accuracy of patient results prior to reporting.
• Recognize age-specific differences in expected results (neonates to geriatrics).
• Ensure proficiency testing samples are tested consistently with patient samples.
• May be required to perform venipuncture or capillary puncture and assist in policy development.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology
