Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required for MLS II; MLS I allows related degree with appropriate certification.
• Certification in MT/MLS or MLT as applicable for level and state licensure.
• No prior professional laboratory experience required for MLS I; relevant certification required for MLS II.

Responsibilities

• Performs waived/POC, moderate, and high complexity CLIA testing as appropriate.
• Investigates and resolves problems with equipment, results, specimens, and workflow.
• Performs quality control, proficiency testing, and monitors accuracy and precision.
• Prepares reagents and assists in standard/control material preparation.
• Monitors reagent inventory and maintains laboratory supplies.
• Reviews results to ensure accuracy and timely correction of errors.
• Reports results and consults with healthcare providers as needed.
• Participates in education/training of new employees and learners.
• Acts as technical resource with supervision or independently by experience.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science, or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Biological Science, or Associate’s Degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technology

ASCP/AMT certification or equivalent
