UNC Health in Raleigh, NC is seeking Medical Laboratory Scientist I or II to join the Rex Core Lab team. This hybrid posting reflects a range of qualifications and responsibilities across levels.

Work evenings 3:30 PM to 11:30 PM, Monday–Friday with rotating weekend coverage, onsite at UNC Health. Responsibilities include performing waived, moderate, and high complexity CLIA testing, quality control, proficiency testing, and training new staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science or related field required for MLS II; MLS I requires appropriate degree per role.
• Two years of experience for MLS II from entry level; MLS I may require no prior professional laboratory experience.
• ASCP/AMT certifications as per degree and specialty area.

Responsibilities

• Performs waived/POC, moderate, and high complexity CLIA testing as appropriate to role and competency.
• Investigates and resolves problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and workflow.
• Performs quality control, proficiency testing, and monitors accuracy of testing.
• Prepares reagents and assists in standard/control materials preparation.
• Monitors reagent inventory and aids in maintaining lab supplies.
• Reviews test results for accuracy and timely reporting; confers with healthcare providers as needed.
• Participates in training of new employees and learners; acts as a technical resource.
