Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform diagnostic testing, analysis, and reporting in adherence with QA/QI standards.

The role requires a MLS/MT credential path, a bachelor’s in medical lab science or related field, and MLS certification within 18 months of hire. On-site position in Pontiac, MI with focus on patient safety and quality control. You will operate analyzers, maintain supplies, train new staff, and ensure compliance with infection control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, chemistry, or related biological science field.
• MLS certification within 18 months of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

• Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by chemical analyses.
• Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells using microscopy.
• Prepares blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by performing blood group, type, and compatibility tests.
• Processes, reads, and reports cultures and antibiotic sensitivities.
• Maintains operation of laboratory analyzers and equipment by calibration and maintenance.
• Maintains laboratory supplies inventory and orders as needed.
• Provides medical technology information by answering questions and reporting findings.
• Prepares reports of technological findings by collecting and summarizing information.
• Maintains professional knowledge by attending workshops and reviewing publications.
• Works in compliance with QA/QI standards and infection control policies.
• Trains new employees and orients staff.

Education
