Job summary

University of California- Davis Health is seeking a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist to support routine and investigational testing in the Center for Diagnostic Innovation. The role covers Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, POC, Molecular Pathology and other diagnostic areas, under CLIA guidelines.

The position requires a CA CLS license, a related bachelor’s degree, and prior CLS experience with strong regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

• California State License for Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent specialty license as defined in Division 2, Chapter 3 of the California Business and Professional Code.
• Must possess California State Issued Clinical Laboratory Science license (current and renewed every two years as required).
• Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent training/experience.
• Experience in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field.
• Technical knowledge in Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Pathology, POC Testing, Special Chemistry, and/or Toxicology.
• Knowledge of hospital and laboratory regulations (CDPH, CAP, TJC, FDA, NAACLS, FACT, OSHA).
• Ability to recognize and resolve errors; troubleshoot instruments; use data management tools.
• Strong communication and documentation skills; ability to educate trainees and physicians.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical testing across multiple laboratory specialties.
• Support routine and investigational testing in CLIA-certified laboratory.
• Coordinate with pathology staff and research labs as needed.
• Maintain records per policy and regulatory requirements.
