Job summary

The position is semester-based, with travel to Johns Hopkins SON and local facilities. Applicants should hold an RN license and a Master’s in nursing or a DNP, with at least two years of direct patient care and robust teaching capabilities.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a registered nurse.
• Master's degree in nursing or DNP.
• Complete compliance requirements of SON and/or clinical site.
• Minimum of 2 years of direct patient care as an RN or APN.
• Excellent organizational, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to manage details and problem solve in a complex environment.
• Demonstrated experience fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment.
• Experience as a clinical educator is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach in clinical/laboratory/simulation settings using evidence-based practice and adult learning principles.
• Proactively create an inclusive learning environment.
• Accountable for ensuring complete/assigned clinical hours.
• Maintain familiarity with theory content.
• Provide standardized learning experiences when applicable.
• Follow directions of the Clinical Coordinator and Program Director.
• Attend course planning meetings and ensure compliance requirements are met.
• Prepare and submit incident reports related to student exposures.
• Take students to Occupational Health Clinic for exposures as directed.
• Work collaboratively with nurse managers, staff nurses, and clinical unit representatives.
• Meet with students to address performance concerns and provide improvement plans.
• Provide timely feedback on student progress and communicate warnings when needed.
• Communicate in writing with clinical coordinator about warnings or midterm end results.
• Travel to Johns Hopkins SON and clinical facilities in the Baltimore-Washington area.
