Qualifications

• 1 Year Laboratory Experience in a Hospital or similar setting (Required)
• High School Diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
• Driver's License Tennessee (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Receives client inquiries; answers the phone within 3 rings and initiates timely follow up to client requests.
• Collects specimens using approved techniques, minimizing patient discomfort and ensuring proper specimen handling.
• Reviews requisitions for accuracy, legibility, insurance information, and diagnosis codes to minimize denials.
• Performs loading of primary bar-coded specimens on analyzers and/or primary inoculation of microbiology specimens and waived testing as applicable.
• Performs chain of custody collections accurately and forwards results per HIPAA guidelines.
• Documents and resolves specimen integrity issues, patient and physician complaints, and phlebotomy problems.
• Monitors collection logs to ensure timely collection of all timed and STAT specimens.
• Maintains a positive attitude toward lab personnel and patients; assists in training phlebotomy techniques.
