Job summary

St. Francis Medical Center in Los Angeles is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to perform clerical duties, support specimen handling, and assist licensed personnel under California regulations. The role requires phlebotomy knowledge, proper licensure, and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

HS Diploma or equivalent required.
Active California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I or II license required for individuals performing phlebotomy.
Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current preferred.
BLS certification within forty-five days of hire and maintained current, according to hospital requirement.
Minimum of 1 year clinical laboratory experience performing similar job functions preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with clerical tasks, including telephone communication and data entry.
Support laboratory workflow under supervision of licensed personnel.
Assist with specimen handling, processing and storage as appropriate to certification and policy.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas, equipment, and collection sites.
