Job summary

GBMC is seeking a Lab Assistant in Baltimore, MD to provide accessioning/processing services under direct supervision. This role receives, accession/ processes pathology and laboratory specimens and communicates results to customers.

Training and monitoring of co-workers and students are part of the duties. Qualifications include a HS Diploma and at least 6 months of related laboratory accessioning experience, plus knowledge of medical terminology and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma required.
• Minimum 6 months of related laboratory accessioning experience.

• Good communication and basic arithmetic skills.
• Proficient with computers and office productivity software.

Responsibilities

• Perform accessioning and processing of specimens under supervision.

Job description

Under direct supervision, the Lab Assistant provides accessioning/processing service, utilizes appropriate equipment, receive, accession/, process pathology and laboratory specimens, as well as provide laboratory information and reports to customers. Assists in the training and monitoring of co-workers, students, and other hospital staff.

6 months related Laboratory accessioning experience

Skills:

• Knowledge of medical terminology

• Skill in utilizing customer service techniques
• Skill in performing basic arithmetic

Pay Range

$17.30 - $25.11
