Job summary

AdventHealth in Florida is seeking a part-time laboratory support professional to assist with point of care testing, specimen collection, and processing. The role includes quality control, equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety and infection control policies.

Training in handling hazardous waste and hospital systems is provided. The position requires strong English communication, basic computer skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Technical skills related to laboratory procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English with patients and staff.
• Ability to read text and numbers in English.
• Ability to learn computer applications and hospital information systems.
• Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Perform point of care testing, quality control, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reporting.
• Support department operations including clerical duties.
• Process blood and blood components using a transfusion information system.
• Transport hazardous waste and follow safety protocols.
• Collect patient data to create accounts and verify information.
• Collect blood specimens and perform phlebotomy as needed.
• Receive, process, and transport specimens for testing.
• Assist with specimen processing and preanalytical workflows.
• Maintain equipment and participate in quality improvement activities.
