Job summary

Texas Health Plano is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Assistant – Laboratory to contribute to our high-quality patient care team. The PRN role includes overnight and weekend shifts at Texas Health Plano, located at 6200 West Parker Road, Plano, TX 75093.

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, CLIA foreign education equivalency, and limited phlebotomy experience or coursework. ASCP Phlebotomy Technician on hire is preferred to join a collaborative lab department.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency.
• Six months’ experience as a phlebotomist or completion of a one semester course in phlebotomy.
• PBT(ASCP) - Phlebotomy Technician upon hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily review of results from the department.
• For those entities performing phlebotomy, follow laboratory procedures for specimen collection, patient identification and labeling as appropriate for the age of the patient.
• Follow laboratory procedures for handling, and processing in a manner which is appropriate and follows safety guidelines.
• Follows laboratory procedures for handling unacceptable specimens.
• Follows established laboratory test procedures.
• Performs procedures in other areas of the Laboratory as required by hospital entity.
