Job summary

Mission Hospital McDowell in Marion, North Carolina seeks a Clinical Lab Assistant II to support laboratory operations, including specimen accessioning, processing, and basic waived testing. You will assist phlebotomy and clerical tasks, serving as a liaison between patients, physicians, nursing staff and the lab.

Qualifications

• The candidate should have completed high school and preferably an associate degree.
• Experience in a healthcare environment enhances candidacy.
• ASPT or ASCP certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory support tasks including specimen accessioning, processing and waived testing.
• Assist with phlebotomy and other specimen collection duties as required.
• Serve as a liaison between patients, physicians, nursing staff and the laboratory.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Role Summary: Performs various functions relative to the Laboratory testing, to include but not limited to: clerical and computer functions; specimen accessioning and processing, performing a variety of phlebotomy techniques and assisting with other specimen collections and performing specified waived testing as required. Represents the organization in the inpatient or outpatient setting serving as the liaison between the client (Patient, physicians, nursing, etc.) and the laboratory departments.

What qualifications you will need:

• Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Preferred Education: Associates Degree
• Preferred License: ASPT or ASCP Certification
• Required Experience: Health care setting as Laboratory assistant, Phlebotomist or Clerk
• Preferred Experience:1 year experience in a healthcare environment.
